Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:
  • General (Open): Minimum 25 years, Maximum 38 years
  • Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, or Special Backward Class specified by the Government of Maharashtra: Minimum 25 years, Maximum 43 years
  • High Court/Government Employees, applying through proper channel: Minimum 25 years, No age limit

Qualification and Experience:

  • Should hold at least a University Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from any recognized University.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Librarian or in an equivalent post in any Government, University, College, School, or Public Library.
  • Must possess a Computer Certificate demonstrating proficiency in operating word processors in Windows and Linux, including M.S. Office, M.S. Word, Wordstar-7, and Open Office Org. from recognized institutions.

Character and Antecedents:

  • Good character and antecedents are required.
  • No criminal complaints pending or convictions by a Criminal Court.
  • Competency to enter into a contract.
  • Not permanently debarred or disqualified by any Court or Union or State Public Service Commission.
  • Total number of living children not more than two as per Maharashtra Civil Services (Declaration on Small Family) Rule, 2005.

Selection Process

Screening Test:
  • Subjects include General English, Library and Information Science, and Computer Knowledge.
  • Minimum passing marks are 50 out of 100.
  • Candidates passing the Screening Test alone are eligible for the Viva-voce.

Viva-voce:

  • Conducted for candidates who pass the Screening Test.
  • Carries a weightage of 20 marks.
